Author Quote

You know you’ve had cancer when… you go to put the milk away in the cupboard.

Daily Quote from Grace

“As my first bag of chemo was strung up, I gazed out at the outside world, wondering what other people were doing.  They were driving home from work, putting the kids to bed, swinging through Mickey D’s for dinner, getting chemo.  Oh no… wait.  That was just me.”

Grace is Simmering and Bubbling

Melinda has some exciting options “simmering and bubbling” surrounding Grace.  She is really, really excited about having an outstanding publisher accept her work!  We are working out the details, and we will share them with you as soon as the agreement is signed.  It looks like Grace will be polished and shined and bookstore ready by summer.  You might want to hang on to those “original” copies…

Even “Non-Readers” love Grace

We are very happily surprised by our responses to Grace.  Many people who have not read a book in years have tackled Melinda’s book and loved it.  To those of you who are diving into the chilly waters of reading a book for the first time in years in order to read Grace, we congratulate you on your extraordinary efforts!  May the blessings you receive from the content of the book greatly outweigh your reading efforts…

GRACE IS COMING!!!

It’s Melinda!  No, I didn’t disappear into another dimension or anything…hahahaha……just been super busy!  I have some extremely exciting news!  Grace was published on October 30th, 2009 by Happy Quail!  Books are on their way!  You can order bulk orders on www.happyquail.net.  I am so excited!  It is amazing to hold an actual book instead of about six notepads with scribbles!  We should have copies available by the end of this week (the 20th)!

Where is Waldo… I mean, Melinda?

Melinda has been extremely busy… 3 AP classes at school (AP Biology is her favorite class,) dancing 6 days a week at the Academy of Dance, and getting her book, Grace, ready for printing in the next week.    Very, very thankfully, Melinda has been feeling well and loving life.

One Year Check-up

No hypermetabolic activity!!! In other words, the PET scan I received yesterday showed no return of cancer. I am grateful beyond words can describe and I pray that with each passing year, I can become even more thankful that nothing has returned. Yesterday was a busy (and exhausting) day at Cottage Hospital, with an echocardiogram, pulminary function test, CT/PET scan, and blood test and check-up at the clinic. Had to drink that lovely (NOT!) oral contrast that is mentioned in one of my excerpts, got a radioactive sugar compound injected, and dye put in me…yeah…felt a little polluted and sick afterward. Oh well. The good news is definitely worth it. The book. I’m a writing machine these days. I am a good two-thirds done and getting closer any day. Just wrote a really funny part…I think you’re gonna love it. That’s all for now! I apologize for my lack-of-posts lately! Look out for new excerpts!

Summer!

I’m so exctied!  School is out for the summer!  That means I get to write and dance and write some more and dance some more!  YES!  Heaven!  Had a great day at dance today.  I’m starting to get a lot stronger.  Oh……almost forgot!  I auditioned for the San Luis Obispo Civic Ballet a couple of weeks ago and I received the news on Friday that I was accepted!  Wow.  Never would I have imagined even six months ago that I would be dancing with a company.  I am blessed.  I not only LOVE dance from the bottom of my heart but apparently, others think I’m pretty good at it (hahahahaha)…..everyone wins!  I will have more time to update my site now, so look for new stuff!

P.S.  I now officially have over 50 pages typed and in book format.  Probably around 150-ish are written….maybe closer to 200!

My Birthday

I’ve been really busy writing and transforming it into book format.  Only two more weeks of school and then I can stop putting aside my book to do trigonometric functions and essays.  I want to tell my teachers, “I just want to write!”  Also today, my birthday, I got some awesome business cards.  Will be passing those babies out… spreading the word a bit.  Look for more new and exciting things coming!

New Site!!!!!
